Very beautiful and flavorful Siberian-type kale. Striking red to purple stems make this an attractive addition to any meal. This heirloom kale dates to the 19th century, always a popular variety at the Farmers Markets.

Planting Instructions: Kale can be direct seeded or also grown from transplant. Germinates quickly in warm soil. Direct seed 3-4 seeds every 8 inches in rows 8-12 inches apart, thin plants to one every interval. Sow at a depth of half-three quarters of an inch. Works very well when sown indoors in early spring on a heating mat or warm sunny window and transplanted to the garden. Also, great for fall planting. The cooler the weather, the better the flavor.
